Hello,
I already have some php scripts working on my home web server, which is apache 2.2.15 with PHP 5.2.13 on Gentoo Linux.

Under /var/www/ I have the usual localhost directory but I also have a <site.domain> directory for my local development copy of the site I maintain. (I do the work on my workstation and then use sitecopy to upload the files, first to my server to check them and then to the real site.)

I have phpMyAdmin under <site.domain>/htdocs/phpMyAdmin and it works well.

Now when I copy phpMyEdit-5.7.1 into <site.domain>/htdocs/phpMyEdit and run the setup script I get a page full of php and other code. If I persevere and enter the connection details into the entry fields and click the Submit button, I get an error saying the script can't find htmlspecialchars.

Can anyone suggest what's wrong?
