| Summary: | configure overrides --prefix | ||||
| Description: |
If I run ./configure --prefix=/var/tmp/cfgsymlink and /var/tmp/cfgsymlink is a symlink to /var/tmp/cfgtest/, the resulting prefix variable in config.status is not "/var/tmp/cfgsymlink" (as specified by the user who probably wants it that way) but "/var/tmp/cfgtest". The reason for this behaviour is an incomplete fix for relative path prefixes in configure.in where every prefix is changed with prefix="`cd $prefix && pwd`" instead of relative prefixes only. |
||||
| Steps To Reproduce: |
- create a directory /var/tmp/cfgtest - create a symlink /var/tmp/cfgsymlink pointing to /var/tmp/cfgtest - run ./configure --prefix=/var/tmp/cfgsymlink - examine config.status and wonder why @prefix@ does not have the value "/var/tmp/cfgsymlink". |
||||
| Additional Information / Solution: |
Apply the appended patch where prefix is only changed if the path is relative, ie it starts with a dot. |
