We hear this a lot from students, every study guide repeats the same advice, read more, practice past papers, revise consistently, but none of it explains why someone can understand a case perfectly in a seminar and still blank when trying to apply it in an essay.
What we've noticed, working with students across different modules, is that the actual sticking point is rarely the knowledge itself. It's usually something far more specific:
Understanding the theory behind duty of care, but misapplying the test slightly differently with each new scenario
Arguments that make complete sense mentally but don't translate clearly onto the page
Being able to sense something's wrong with a draft, without quite knowing how to fix it
Generic "how to study law" guides rarely address any of this, because the problem is different for nearly every student. What works for someone who struggles with case memorisation does nothing for someone whose issue is actually argument structure.
This is exactly why we built our
law essay writing service
around looking at a student's actual draft rather than repeating generic advice. Identifying precisely where an argument breaks down, and why, tends to fix the problem far more effectively than another general guide on "how to write a first-class essay."
If generic study tips have never quite touched your actual sticking point, you're not alone; law tends to be a subject where the real issue is different for everyone, so the fix usually needs to be personal too.
