An SSO portal works by integrating with various applications and services within an organization. When a user logs in to the SSO portal using their credentials (username and password), the portal authenticates the user's identity through a centralized Identity Provider (IDP). Once authenticated, the SSO portal generates a token or session ticket that represents the user's authenticated session. Subsequently, when the user attempts to access any integrated application or service through the SSO portal, the portal passes this token or session ticket to the application or service.

An SSO (Single Sign-On) portal allows users to access multiple applications with one set of credentials. It works by authenticating a user's identity once, then providing seamless access to various connected services. For instance, a platform like moe gov my enables users to log in once and access various educational services without needing to authenticate again.
