I am using phpMyEdit 5.4 for 6 mnts now and I am very happy with it. The thing is that I have made multiple changes to the main class file mostly including some JS code here and there to make users' life easier. Now I see that version 5.5 may be coming in the not so distant future and you have multiple improvements in the CVS version (I see reports that the infamous JS error with the required fields is gone) so I start wondering how to update. Is there an easy way or I have to do the manual copy - replace thing.
Thanks in advance for any responses. I'm sure other novice users have the same question.

If you have made some updates, the best thing to do initially is to post the updates (probably as patch files) in a bug report. This will give nepto an opportunity to have a look at them and to choose whether to incorporate.
The other approach is to write an extension (which is what I did - the mce_cal extension). The downside is that everytime the main classes changes to will need to port relevant changes into the extension. However this gives you some control yourself.
